ok, so there's only one 'got milk?' milk mustache in the gallery so far....i tried to emulate the ad campaign pretty closely.
please let me know what you think of these as photographs as well as which one you would choose to enter.
thanks in advance! cheers! -mark

They're both great! I like the family best. Something about the pink outline of the rocker bothers me, although I love the expression and the ukelele!

I love the rocker. With the couch in the background, it says..."drink milk...you'll get off the couch and kick butt."

Note: you might want to think about if this is a copyright infringement of the 'got milk?' campaign. I'm still too new in photography to know the rules about imitating another.

Cute! I like #2. Dad in #1 has a strange expression, like he doesn't want to be there.

Nope, Dad is just wondering if his right hand, holding the remote trigger, is in the picture or not! :)

Cute! #1 made me smile, but I like #2 better. I actually really like the pink/purple fringe!! I too did a shot in this direction. I had it uploaded into the gallery and everything. I just had "Milk" in the text as I was afraid like TinaMarie mentioned of copyright infringement. I just did MILK but in that same font and I figured it would be safe. Maybe just eliminate the "got" and leave milk with the question mark. I don't know either...but #2 is cool!

Thanks for the replies. I don't think copyright is an issue here. I'm not selling the image. Also, something as commonplace as the 'got milk' slogan gets used (parodied etc) by the public and that is considered acceptable under copyright law. I'm not a lawyer, but I did take a class on copyright. The main thing is that I am not making money from the sale of the image. Can you really copyright milk mustaches and the words 'got milk'?

i like them both, (very cute family Mark, by the way), but there are things that bother me on both.
on #1 dad's expression and chopped off arm are distracting.
on #2, if you take away the "got milk?" legend, then all we have is the white mustache, which, could be anything; yeah, the milk mustache is embeded into our colective consciousness in the US, but i'm not sure it's as powerful elsewhere in the world.

but maybe i'm just being overly analytical...

    Fantastic photos and wonderful colors!

I agree with the comments - the mustache on all doesn't bother me at all,
maybe you can crop a little the left and right of the first one.

I replaced the family shot: cropped, darkened arm on left, lightened eyes, moved text.
Still undecided which one to enter!
    Thanks.
