I can't hold it in anymore. I purchased a Nikon 24-70 from adorama last thursday (around 10am-ish) and friday afternoon at 2pm it was here.
10 minutes later, I was in love.
At f/2.8 this lens focuses faster than the speed of sound. It is an INCREDIBLE lens.
I read a LOT of reviews all over the web about it and didn't believe it all completely. I figured some people had some psychosomatic issues related to the new-found hole that this lens created in their pocket but I was wrong.
If you're sitting on the fence about this lens, get off the fence and spend the money to make it happen. You will NOT regret it.

Weird sidenote:
A lot of DX body users have 70-200s and never mention the crop factor but as soon as a DX body user says they want to get a 24-70, tons of people mention that it's a waste for DX users. I don't understand the double standard.
Personally, this lens was EXACTLY what I wanted rangewise.

I felt that on DX, I'd prefer it to be a tad wider, but I didn't think it was a "waste."
And thus the justification for my 14-24... it's an addiction I tell you!:help:help

Yeah, that's my next drug purchase.
After another camera bag and a tripod and a . . . .
If I got this and the 70-200, I'd go buy a D700 and shoot full frame lol.
I already fear this purchase lol. If it's as sharp all around @ 2.8 like the 24-70 is, I'll have no choice but to do it lol.
I have an 11-16 Tok so I'm not sure I'll ever feel like I want to go wider :davidto
