Ok, like Ron, I also had to resort to a thread title OTHER than Mount Rainier. Alas- it's a ruse!
Still here? Good!
Wildflowers have hit their peak for this year at Mount Rainier. I made my way to Mazama Ridge where the crowds aren't as bad but the flowers are every much as bit lovely. The mountain remained largely in clouds the entire day except for two brief glimpses that happened between locations to shoot. Argh..

9. Bear I came across on my way back
10. Full moon rising over Stevens Peak
After sunset was over, I was packing up my gear when the coolest thing happened. A red fox came trotting up the trail like a dog ahead of its master and then proceeded to poke around where I was at for a minute. My SLR was packed away so I grabbed my point & shoot for some quick blurry photos and this video..

It's funny, I've been living up here and hiking regularly for over 10 years and this was only the second bear I've ever seen (and the first was 3 weeks ago in Spray Park!). First fox too!
