I've notice in some photographers work with senior portraits, there's a year stamp, usually in embossed in gold on the corner of pictures which, as we know is the graduation year. Sooo how is that stamp applied?

It is done with gold foil and a heat stamp machine. Google gold stamp machine.

I use to stamp those photos actually. It's when I supervised a print shop. Personalizing things for weddings and such (matchbooks, napkins and the like). The machines we used were Kwikprint presses. http://www.kwik-print.com/ . You need the press, foil, and then sets of fonts as you have to set up what you want written for each individual job. Not entirely sure it's worth it to purchase your own press. Might be better off looking for a printshop that can hotfoil stamp the photos for you.
