Red Bull Holy Ride: Downhill Mt. Bike Race

This last week or so Red Bull held their Holy Ride race at a temple just south of Kyoto. The course was basically 400 stone stairs that the riders had to race down with out bailing, and with some late night rain the night before that was a pretty hard thing to avoid for many of the riders. It was a great time, and I hope they do it again next year because I learned a lot from the other photographers there and want to try it again!

Ya, it was something to watch live for sure! And although it was a long hard day of shooting, I really look forward to being able to do it again next year if possible!

and I do believe its true.. that there are roads left in both of our shoes..
Anyway, great shots, I really like photos 2 and 6. Photo 2 because it gives a hint to speed, and 6 because the guy is putting his foot down, showing a bit of action.
A shot that would have been great, would be one from down low (like laying on the ground) of a rider in mid air launching off some steps.
Thanks for the comment. I really liked how #2 came out, just wish there would have been a Red Bull logo in there, than they could have used it, haha.
And ya, I tried that at one point, but didn't really get anything I liked. Maybe I wasn't in the right position. I think I will try again next time though

Here is a awesome video, similar type of course with mostly steps, taken with a helmet cam (I would love to ride a course like that)

Ya, I have seen that page before, thanks. Actually, I was hired by Red Bull Japan to take these photos and my photos are listed on the Japanese page much in the same manner as the link you showed me. Lots of good pics on the link though that I haven't seen yet, might have get on there again soon.
Cheers!
