Shot this last week. Only took one shot and just got as close as I dared with my 35mm prime. Cropped in a bit and converted to BW in Lightroom.

    Have you heard of the "No Bum" rule of street photography?

    Well, not a rule-rule, but more like a guideline.

    OK, I may be weird but this shot immediately brought to mind the countless newborn pics we see that only have the toes in focus, and that thought made me laugh.

    I know, maybe I'm a bad guy for taking this guy's picture. He didn't know I was there, I was being somewhat sneaky and yeah, I figured that should this guy wake up, he'd probably kung fu my ass under the grass.

    However, I don't think anyone can recognize him owing to the blurred out/grained out face, and I am of the mindset that if someone takes your photo but you never see it, how does it affect your day? And I don't normally take pictures of bums, but I felt that in this case, the feet offered up a different perspective that one doesn't see every day in photos. Additionally, since his face is fairly unrecognizable, and I'm not using this for commercial purposes, I hope that nobody considers this a "not cool bro" shot.

    It's not recognizing the person per se, it's a bit of street photog creed: it is very easy to take pictures of street people because, well, they are everywhere and yes they may look down and out etc. As someone said, if you are going to do it, at least be on the same side of street as they are. Better yet is to actually talk to them and know them.

    I like the shot and I think the subject is treated respectfully. Also, we don't actually know if this is a "bum" or a homeless person. I'm assuming the location is in China. People sleep anywhere and everywhere and at most times of the day. This could easily be a worker from a nearby construction area.
