Today's Statistics Inconsistent count

If I view my statistics Popularity tab and select "Show Just Today" then I get a count of views in each gallery for today. Clicking on the gallery link to view the popularity by photo then shows a different number of total views for that gallery. Clicking on "Show Just Today" one more time switches to the correct numbers.

Or perhaps I misunderstand how it should work.
