I haven't posted much of anything this summer, so I'll throw out some pics that I took at my family reunion of my cousin showing off.

Enjoy

BTW, taking pictures from a boat and keeping focus is freakin hard!!

I've never photographed waterskiers, kneeboarders or wakeboarders from a boat, but I'd always thought it would be dead easy - precisely because the focus distance would never change!

I presumed the photographer would just lock the focus manually and be guaranteed pin-sharp images every time. But you're an expert, so you can help me. What don't I understand? What makes it 'freakin hard'? ne_nau.gif

Holding the camera steady in a boat that is hitting waves and the skier is also hitting waves.

If conditions were perfect with no other boats and the water being smooth as glass, then sure, it would be easy.

    That's an understatement lol3.gif

I'd prefer someplace to wedge my feet to make it easier. Regardless, you have to pay attention to the boats going the other way then anticipate the wake crossing.

As for locking focus, manual doesn't quite cut it because the rope length changes. Like in this shot. One minute I'm up against the short end of focus and the next, the far end.

The shots look great! Especially for saying that you were struggling!
