SmugMug Simple Uploader speed limited?

Is the SmugMug Simple Uploader (the drag-and-drop one that runs in a browser) limited to ~2.1 MB/s?

It's not a raw bandwidth limitation on my system. I'm able to launch 6 different tabs and upload concurrently at 12.6 Mb/s to SmugMug. This is the only way I can upload fast enough for time-critical galleries (I split up the upload into non-overlapping groups and send them separately but it whouldn't be necessary to do that if I could just have 1 full-speed uploader).

This is the same issue in both IE and Firefox. I'm running the most up-to-date version of Java.

Another reason I suspect a speed limitation in the uploader code is because there was a time—for a period of maybe a few months—when I could upload over 8 Mb/s from a single instance. Then one day it went back to 2.1 Mb/s.

Is anyone able to currently upload over 2.1 Mb/s from a single upload instance?

Years ago the Simple Uploader would send 3 files at a time; is there any way to re-enable this? I really missed that feature.

Thanks!
