Upload facility for friends

Hi,

I've recently got married and I'm looking for a way of collecting all of the digital photos that my friends and family have taken.

I've been a SmugMug member for many years and really like the service and wondered if there is a way of getting my friends to upload to my account, without me having to share my password.

Is there a 'dropbox' type facility or something similar which would help in this instance? If this can't be achieved on SmugMug (which I hope it can), could anyone recommend another service that could help?

Thank you Denise, I wasn't aware of this feature.

This would work if people have a small number of photos, but email probably isn't the best medium for sending large numbers of photos.

Ideally, I would like to give people a url which would allow them to access a SM uploader which drops the photos into my account.

Any other ideas?

Any other way requires that they log on to your account.

If you have a pro-level account you can give them an assistant password - but I would argue that there is too much ability there to give to someone just to upload photos.

Have you looked at http://www.dropbox.com/? You would need to grab the images from there, download to your machine, then upload to smug.

A facility for friends to upload photos (to certain galleries with a password) would be incredibly useful.

There are many occasions when I need photos that friends have taken at events and having this facility would just make things so much easier. It's the way people want to work these days - I have no desire to have photos emailed, sent via Dropbox, burnt to CD etc.

Hopefully this feature will happen at some point? Or because Pro users are unlikely to want it will it never happen?

I think it would be incredibly useful. Even a lot of pros have family areas of their sites. I have a few galleries of photos that my immediate family has taken. I really wish they could upload them on their own (one is off to college, etc.) and I also wish they could caption on their own. I think there may be a Feature Request for this. If I find it, I'll post it back here so you can vote on it!
