I am one of the photographers for the Visual Arts Team of my church, and once a year they hold their big Baptism at a local lake. I have a lot from this event, but thought I would just share some of my favorite candid shots, taken before the Baptisms started. Unfortunately I had no control over the time of day for the event, so I had some pretty harsh lighting to deal with....All c&c is welcome!

4. This one was taken just after the three girls got Baptised together

I like them, #3 is a nice moment, but they seem a little dark. ne_nau.gif

Edit: huh. Must've been my lighting at home. At work these look a lot brighter. ne_nau.gif

Oh good, I'm glad you said that cuz I always wonder if I'm processing them too dark...they look ok on my laptap, but I never know if they look ok to others...thanks for the feedback Mark!

Interesting. They look dark on my calibrated monitor at home-- but I admit I have the brightness turned down low so that I can match prints. On my monitors at work they look fine. ne_nau.gif.

EDIT: I use the whitewash skin by default for dgrin, which does tend to make your pics look darker because it is a bright background with black lettering. If I use the default smugmug skin they look brighter, so it's one of those adaptive/environmental things.

Unfortunately for you I'm sticking with Whitewash-- black text on a light background is easier to read. :D

I rather like the exposures and conversions. Not too dark to my eye. But short of your explanation and the word plastered on t-shirts I don't think you've effectively captured anything relative to the ritual of baptism.

Ahhh, excellent point Angelo! I was hesitant to post any that might be too identifying. I will post some different shots from this event, that I think will capture it better. These were just some candids I took before and during that I liked, but your right, without the explanation, probably don't say much...thanks for the input!
