Had the pleasure of spending the day with this sweetie pie today. She was born Friday (8/27) - I love them when they're so fresh!! I was too attached to her spiky hair that I didn't put a single hat or bow or headband on her head, which shocks even me :)

C&C Welcome!

1. I love how curly they are when they're this tiny

2. Sweet Pea in a Pod! She's in a HAT (that I've used several times on several baby boys in the past) if that shows how tiny her 6 lb 5 oz frame really is.

3. Mom saw the cheesecloth and fell in love, so of course we had to use it!

4. One of the ones that didn't get as much photoshop love as the other two, but I still love it

Awww this gives me so much inspiration!! I have a new one this Saturday (5 days and will be my youngest shoot). I really like the soft processing on these. Just adds to the newness of her. And that hair! I wouldn't of put anything on her either lol

Oh no! I will totally go against the grain here rolleyes1.gif, sorry!

Ok, first off, the poses are great, but what happened to the completely blown white blanket??? headscratch.gif To me that would be a no-go ne_nau.gif Looks fake, and just takes the whole thing out of the context.

Check out THIS blog, looks way more natural, simple and just pure thumb.gif, don't you agree? :D

Having said this, the last 3 are my favorites, love the cheese cloth, love the hair in #4 and I love the hanging photo (was never able to do that myself :cry)

Aw, shucks, you're too sweet. Here's my inspiration: www.kelleyryden.com and/or her twin sister www.traceyraver.com. They'll leave you speechless, promise.

We had a bow in her hair at one point, but she looked like Hello Kitty, so we ditched it and just went au naturale.

Thanks, Angie, I asked for C&C and you delivered. She was in a bean bag and there was a blown out spot on one part where she was darker because she was down in the "hole". I agree with going au naturale, but I couldn't resist that one. I'm hoping she wants birth announcements, in that case, said shot is already ready for her information.

The black one of her in the cheesecloth was done the same way, she was on a brown piece of fabric that photographed gray so I had to even it out. Mom mentioned that she loved the way the cheesecloth looked when she was wrapped up in it, so we did a LOT with her in it.

I'll head on over to that link, any excuse to perfect my baby shots, I'll take. They are my true weakness.

As far as the hanging shot here's the setup: two light stands about 4 feet apart with a square aluminum bar (with two holes drilled in just one side) sitting between them, a brown blanket (that I use at nearly every shoot) draped over the bar and clamped on. Mom's holding Molly in a scarf (yes, you read that right, acquired at Walmart for about $5) about a foot or so above a bean bag. Grandma is just over my shoulder having just pulled out the pacifier. The tricky part of the shot is getting enough sling under her head to support it but still having her hand in front of her face to pull the sling away so it's not blocking her face. There's a window to my left. That's it. Easier said than done, we took about six frames of this and hoped and prayed that I could pull one out. It took some work to erase mom's leg and fix Molly's face where the blanket smushed it up, but it's all good. She left me a Facebook message saying it was "a-m-a-z-i-n-g" so it was worth it :)

Here's another one just to show exactly how tiny she really is -- that's an average sized block under her, and yes, she's unsupported :)

I have to be honest and say I wasn't feeling the first group. But you realy knocked this one (the block) out of the park. Wonderful image.

    Thanks!!

That's become my "trademark" pose, I've done it on babies as young as a few hours on (as in still in the hospital) and upwards of almost 6 months old, I can get just about any baby to do it :)

I was so focused on the baby that I had not even noticed the blanket but now that I see the reference photos on the blog I would agree with you on the first few images with the blanket blown out.

I love the portrait with the block, it just looks so natural even if it's hard to imagine a baby that new to be able to pose that way....it just works!

    Aw, y'all are too sweet!

Parents seem to love the block shot, especially when they're tiny, shows how little they really are! Molly fought me on doing it without the block, but I got one anyway that mom doesn't know about, I'm dying to hear why she says about it.
