These nests can get pretty big at times. This is a fair size one I came across just at sunset. Canon A610 using its flash.

They were moving about pretty fast for the slow shutter and handheld.

For the sake of science. There are things we just have to know.
Like is fire hot. :scratch :D This one was like my 3rd try in macro. Will have to do for now. :wink

#1 I'd dial the flash back a bit. A bit too bright for me against the sky.
#2 Good use of the slow shutter to get some movement, but the background is really busy and the ants are too small. I'd like to see closer and maybe a bring the angle over a bit so its not quite straight up and down?
    #3 Jeeze man! That's crazy!

Amongst other things, I will give effort 3 more attention as well.
Maybe if I used honey mwink.gif

I'd be running fast in the other direction if I saw so many ants in one place :D

I like the one with your hand...it really sets off the ants.

rolleyes1.gifWell, at least its not so bad out there that you'd just be running from
one nest to the next. That would be a long jog and exhausting.
These type of ants are not aggressive like say Fire Ants. Which I have had
the accidental displeasure of cursing at vehemently while visiting Texas.

Am pleased you like the pic with my hand in it giving the ants an opportunity to come aboard and be seen in number. I can tell you that is the first time in my life ever to pull that stunt. Didn't get as many ants on as I was hoping to get in the shot. I was only going to persavere / endure so long for the sake of "Silly Science" to get a different shot. :D One shot
in a long list of shots that where taken just cause.
