I shot this on the Sunrise Highway in San Diego about 10 miles from Julian at around 6100 feet. Anyone know what this is? (Resolution reduced here, but the whole thing is on my smugmug gallery http://jmh.smugmug.com)

Thanks!

    Nice one
I believe what ya got there is a Red Shoulder Hawk. I wish it was an Eagle cause I'd be in my car right now on the way down there :D
Although I could be wrong, I kinda hope I am, cause I could use an excuse to go shoot San Diego Area :D

Either way an excellent Raptor shot thumb.gif

    Mark,
This looks like a redtail hawk to me ne_nau.gif Beautiful birds and lots of fun to watch and shoot. Man he was flyin' high if he was circling around over Julian. I remember that as being "snow country" mwink.gif

Nice shot thumb.gifthumb.gif Hope you get to shoot some more birds in the future :D

    Hey Julian,

The bad news is that it isn't an eagle. The good news is that it is a good shot of a hawk and it still counts as a raptor shot. thumb.gif

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
