We were just playing with a sheet and came up with this. I love this photo, I feel like her eyes just go on forever. Thanks for looking.

Shot with a d90 and two speedlights.

very, very nice and I agree, the eyes are riveting. Can you talk a little more about how you used the speedlites & lighting layout?

The D90 was at 1/200th and f8. I had an SB900 45 degrees between my subject and camera right. It was in a 3 foot octobox and was level with her face. The SB600 was camera left directly beside me in a shoot thru umbrella. I had it close to me so I could get a bit of fill on her face but keep the sheet lit properly. Thanks for the comments!

Very nicely done Brock. Just goes to show, you don't need ten grand worth of studio lights to get even, soft lighting on a subject.

Of course, I'd never be able to achieve it myself; I just don't have the patience to set things up and play with them till it comes out right. But maybe one day...

one more Q, if I can.
Were you shooting master/slave TTL or all manual on the strobes?

It certainly works, although your watermark looks bit too much like a logo = the image looks like an ad. Not a bad thing necessarily. deal.gif

Lol nope we were not. I thought that the second I looked at the lcd though. I was just shooting away and someone grabbed the sheet and put it on her head haha. Thanks for all the kind comments! This actually helped me get a shoot next week. Her mother saw the image and is having a birthday party where they will all be wearing "real" traditional dress and they want me to shoot it. Hooray!
