went down to Cannon Beach this weekend, hoping for a nice sunset. the weatherman said it would be mostly sunny, so i figured i'd chance it. well, it WAS mostly sunny... till sunset! then the clouds rolled in, and robbed me of most of the potential color. still, it did make for some dramatic skies... 5D, 24-135 @ 24mm, 1/20-1/15 sec @ f/11, ISO 50...

Nice. I like the first (top) image. Lots of sheen/reflections on the beach, and the main rock still has a lot of detail...nice, crisp image. I need to get out there sometime (there, and the Hoh rainforest). The Tamron 24-135 was a sleeper of a lens...really did a nice job when I had mine a few years back...looks like its working for you.

Really nice shots. I think I like more of a pano crop on these, especially the first. The extra sky doesn't add anything for me and if anything maybe detracts from the size or scale of Haystack Rock. You did a great job making lemonade. I would have been heartbroken to get there for a sunset and have it clouded up, but these came out great.

Sometimes you just have to make due with what you have!! I like the first one a lot really!! I like the sky and that I can see the textures on the rocks better.

    Very nice, Ron

#1 is very nice. I'd take "mostly sunny" over a plain old clear sky any day.

Totally agree! Especially when the clouds have such great dimension and texture. I know this place very well....beautiful shots!thumb.gif
