    Brian,

Great job, those are really cool. I'm not a macro photographer, so this may be common knowledge to you all, but what does "Focus Stacked" mean. Is this creating layers in photoshop or some process done in the camera?

Thanks in advance and again super images!

Focus stacking is taking several pics of the subject at different focus depths and then using software (I use combinez5 which is freeware) to stack the images so the resulting image has a much greater DOF than it should have. One of the problems with macro shots is the DOF is very narrow
    Hope that makes sense xzicon_smile_cool.gif

I've just put an example in the macrophotography hints thread here

    Brian,

That makes perfect sense! Thank you for responding so quickly. I looked at the thread you included, but I couldn't see the new images you had linked there?

    Anyway, thanks again.

I really think you have figured out a way to hypnotize the insects in your back yard. They just line up and wait for you to take their picture, like picture day at school. Those shots of the dragon are excellent. I can't get nearly that close. I have a couple recent shots of dragons taken with my new 70-200 that I still need to process and post. That lens has been keeping me busy lately but I haven't forgotten my macro.

It's only recently that I've been able to get near the large Hawker dragonflies- maybe they are getting old :D
