took a quick tour of the Columbia Gorge yesterday, and shot a few of the waterfalls in the area... Elowah Falls was disappointing... just a ribbon, and hardly worth the hike. i hit Multnomah at about 9:00 AM, before the tourists arrived, and got some shots with no one on the bridge! :D Latourell was flowing pretty thin as well, but Wahkeena was full enough to keep me wiping the lens....

It is amazing how different it is in the Gorge in April, I could never have gotten anywhere near that close to any of those falls without getting completely soaked, would have needed and underwater housing for the camera, no kidding.
    Your Multnomah one looks nice.
I think Whakeena needs a little more perspective, moving back and getting more of the amazing amphitheatre that it is in is part of its appeal I think.

    Anyway...

    thanks, guys!

Phil, there really isn't that much of an amphitheater at Wahkeena, at least not where this was shot from. backing up much further would have meant including the bridge railing, which is barely 20 feet from the base of the falls. i think i might have a slightly wider view of it, though... i'll have to check and see...

i thought about checking out Wahclella Falls, but figured i'd be pushing the schedule to try to fit that one in as well... it's a bit farther east, and takes a bit longer to hike to... oh well, i wanted to save something for next time anyway! ;)

A fine set of images. I really like the third image with the people back against the rocks, creating an amazing sense of scale.
