Earlier in the summer my girlfriend and I stopped in at Hearst Castle to take the garden tour. Here are a few of the shots that I took while there...

I wonder what it'd be like to swim in that pool or dive off that diving board?

I've gone on several of the tours but never the garden tour. Nice stuff you got here!

Some relatives and I took one of the tours back in the mid 1970s and I couldn't resist asking about pool use. They said that staff did use one at times — can't remember which. It may be on one of the slides that I took around 35 years ago. So, what they do could have changed in the meantime as well.

@ian408: cannonball... Like it was said in Fight Club, just to destroy something so beautiful.

@Jane B.: We asked, too! Our guide (Larry) said that they (the guides) have gotten to swim in the outdoor pool. the indoor pool is not heated and is very cold. On second thought, I'll pass on that cannonball but instead take a margarita poolside outside. :)

@Indiegirl: Thanks! I'm already looking into a second trip!

When I went on the tour, the story I got was that retiring guides would jump off the platform in the indoor pool in full dress so they could make one last splash!

wave.gifIan, the garden tour is one of the best as it is also one of the least taken. When the wife and I took it we were the only ones. The guide was cool and we got to sneak into the changing rooms and a few other spots not on the tour. Got to see some amazing stuff not normally available.

nice shots anvilimage, I rode past it a week ago and thought about stopping in again, but in full riding gear (motorbike) it would have been a hot walk about :D
