For those who want to help me play with the cropping be aware that the 6.8M full size (8.2mp) jpeg is at http://www.iisc.com/dgrin/nhis_jump_220.jpg

Of course I like the fact that he was also using an EOS-1D Mark II :D

First crop: (click for larger but not crazy image)

What is he doing?? I think he needs to be in peril, or something. I think the movement needs to show something. I was going to mess with it, but I can't right now. Actually, I would just get a crop on it and mess with the angle, so that he was falling forwards or backwards. This might be a subject that someone else knows better than I do. Also, for motion, you can selectively use blur, but it needs to show something, something people can relate to, just my humble opinion. ginger

he's definitely moving, but this photo confuses me somewhat. i wonder too much about what's happened. also, i really like whtn a photo shows some movement in the still image, rather than freezes the action ...

this is my opinion, others may differ. thansk for sharing!

Thanks for the input both of you. I knew I didn't really like the pic but you have helped me to see what wasn't working.

I agree with the above, but once a cropper, always a cropper.
