Pentax has announced the K-r, which supposedly fills the gap between the K-x and K-7, though it seems a bit like a tarted-up K-x.

The K-r addresses a few of the shortcomings of the K-x, namely display of the selected focus point in the optical viewfinder.

Outside of that, it is not the replacement for the K200D that I had hoped for. You see, the K200D (which fit between the K100D Super and K20D) offered the weather sealing and top LCD of the K20D without some of the external buttons, front control wheel, and heft. Other than slow AF and limited ISO range (800 is usable, 1600 isn't), I love my K200D, and had really hoped for the K-x sensor in a truly mid-range body. :bluduh

Oh, they announced a fully plastic DA 35mm F2.4 prime lens - hopefully optics are good, as n00bs will benefit from shooting with a 52mm equivalent FOV prime.

Actually looks like a decent camera-- but it's definitely an evolutionary, rather than a revolutionary, design. IQ will tell the tale, I think.

As to the lens-- well, one complaint about Pentax is the price of their lenses, and it certainly has some nice specs and price. Plus it will apparently be sold as a kit lens. As a fan of relatively fast primes, I can't complain TOO much.

But, really, Pentax, do we need: FA 31, DA 35, DA-L 35, DA 40 and FA 43? I'd ruther have them fill in some of their telephoto "gaps." (Bring back the 135/2.8!)
