Disclaimer: Compared to most here I'm sure I am way late to the party, but ye-gads!

My cell phone from day one has chewed through batteries faster than a politician spending other peoples money.

So off I go to the Verizon store for yet another battery, but while I am there why not find out about some of the newer phone options?

Fortunately or unfortunately as the case may be I get a salesman who knows what he's talking about. He begins very professionally explaining the differences between the various models and the features available. As he is explaining I am thinking, OK the next phone I get will probably be this model. He personally uses the model I was most interested in, so knew the damn thing inside and out. He pulled out his phone and began showing me all the things it could do. At a certain point he had me hook line and sinker. I could not live a day longer without this phone. :D

So I started out to get a new battery, and ended up with:

A phone, 8MP camera, a camcorder, internet access, e-mail, GPS, calender / planer, compass, level, navigator, flashlight, alarm clock, calculator, fm radio, music player, voice recognition, Starbucks locator.

And more things than I will ever use. :D

Sam

I will be forwarding you a bill for a half hour of fruitless searching on the internet for a down loadable DOF chart for the Droid. :D

Seriously? It's not a chart, it's a calculator. There are several free ones. Open your Market app. Click on the magnifying glass at the top to start a search. In the text entry field, type "Depth of Field". You'll see a whole list of them. The second entry is a free DOF calculator by Allen Zhong. Get that one. thumb.gif

There are so many apps out there it's ridiculous. After I got the Droid, I discovered it ran Linux and programs in Java. Guess what I do for a living? Linux and Java. So I'm thinking what a great opportunity to write some apps. But after looking into it, it seems everything conceivable has already been done several times over.

From what I hear, SmugMug is looking for Android beta testers for a new app.

    Congrats on the new phone.
