I get both the implied signals but 1 the voilin is running into the guitar, I guess I would like to see more of the chord being struck. Making it a stronger signal. Can see the chord on the voilin but it is not the one in focus.
2 it takes a second to figure out that it is smoke. I was trying to think of someone I knew who could do smoke rings.
Good ideas
The brown stuff on the bottom of the second photo is a distraction and I agree about the comment regarding the smoke rings.
You're on to a good idea with the first one. But to pull it off you'll need to see the musicians faces and eyes. Do you have a shot of the guitar player looking and leaning toward the violinist to cue him in an on entrance? That kind of a shot would be awesome.
I do have some other shots of the street musicians but they're not very compelling. It's funny, the shot I posted is exactly what I was going for--with the instruments lining up at the heads. It's one of those things that if you have to explain it, it probably doesn't work I do have a funny shot of this film crew and a guy waiting to cross the street. It's a bit over-the-top, but perhaps I'll edit it and post. Reminds me of John Lithgow's "Acting!!" bit.
What would be funny is if the guy in the pink shirt was trying to shoot for this challenge.
I was downtown, just minding my own business when this entire film crew busted out of the light rail car. There were about ten people all filming this guy. I think it's funny he waited for the signal--there were no cars.
I have to say though that I didn't catch the signaling hand until after I read your post. The photographer shooting the guy seems to pull my eye to that side of the photo.

I also think the title is perfect.
