Maybe it can be part of our nature... if we look for it.

Too subtle? Photographic quality questionable? Too forced?
Took this photo while trying to do some night photos at my local beach, but the skies were too cloudy. Instead, found this spiderweb on a nearby driftwood, and wondered what it would look like shot with side and back lit lighting. Unfortunately, the abundance of wind and lack of patience hampered a crisper image, and the idea for using this for the challenge did not occur until after I left the site.

    Hi there,
I don't see "signals" for this one ne_nau.gif.
Maybe others will, but too subtle for me.

So the next question is - can you use it for Deja Vu? :D

The lack of sharpness bothers me.

    Nice idea,

I was going to shoot a black widow under my house and get the hour glass for her signal but:

1.) could'nt get her in focus, a proper macro lens would have helped
2.)My strobe was piss'n her off and she would back up in a defensive position hiding her hour glass.

    Back to the drawing board....hmmmm

I guess it is moot point, now that I can't enter this round (sort of a mixed blessing... I have several ideas I want to try out for this challenge!). But it does look like the processing was too subtle. Will probably still try the concept out a little bit more in the future, ideally with better lighting (moonless night does not help), and with a better web. No threads were added, btw... a couple were just lightened/highlighted with LR3.

This is the reprocessed version, still not ideal, but slightly closer to the original intent...

Okay, back to the drawing board also. (And yeah... had a fleeting thought of resubmitting this to DejaVu and entitling it "Haven't I submitted this before????") lol3.gif

I like the strong radial lines in the web, but I'm not really getting 'signals' either. Maybe if you could edit in a struggling bug or something... The soft focus on the spider is also distracting. Since it's perfectly centered and all, having the top of the 'wheel' of her web cropped off also lends to the feeling of this being a snapshot.

maybe you can find one of these:

The zigzag is a much clearer "signal"

Thanks for all your input! I guess the spider is too distracting. It actually is not the focus of the piece, so I guess the execution still needed a lot of work. This is for fun at this point anyways, and in particular homage to Charlotte's web. However, the piece is limited by the quality of the original photo... but hope to reshoot under better conditions (and may continue to tinker with pp when time allows).

    Peace out!

I agree about the struggling bug causing signals to be sent to resident spider

I don't see it either.. but I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
