Yep it's a tough one. Glad I don't have to try and come up with something. Also hard to offer critiques for it. I like both of these images but, for reasons I can't really explain, I like the second for the theme better.
The pics are nice, but honestly they don't say deja vu to me at all. I'm having the same problem, though, so I don't know if I"m the best source of judgement right now. This one is difficult. Very difficult.
I think the lack of responses is flat because no-one knows. What has been hard for me is thinking... things that make me think Deja Vu do not necessarily make someone else think that. I have one I am working on now, so we will see.
I like the two newest ones you posted better than first 2 I think. I didn't really see it in those.(for me) I get "it" with these two. The horse and buggy I had to look for. I think I prefer the old lady. It is a great photo of her. The tent and sign above the couples head seem a little distracting to me. Maybe crop just above the couple heads? I don't know... just throwing ideas out there.
I think the older woman in the hat says the most to me - wish she was looking at them more..a strong title may pull it together.
I too am struggling with this theme so not sure I know what is a good choice!

I like the image with the woman but just looking at it doesn't give me the sense of deja vu. The way it's shot doesn't seem to link the couple to her in that way. Like I said in my first post though, it's really hard to offer good critiques for this one. At least for me it is.

OK. The lack of replies in this thread tells me that the first two ideas were duds. A country fair this weekend gave me more opportunities.
Do these work better? (Need to think about titles)

I'm drawn to the photo of the old lady in the blue hat. I don't know what it is, but I really like it.
Maybe you've seen the scene before and it is giving you a deja vu!
I toyed with the idea of cropping closer to the couple, but I like the blue and white tent playing with the lines of blue and white in the hat.

I really like the older lady in the hat. It's a lovely interpretation. Simple. Effective.
