I did something a little different this year for my cross country shoots. It involved 3 cameras with 3 very distinct shots.

The coarse has a loop as many XC coarses do. So I decided to set up a remote camera positioned to be able to catch the runners as they come out from the loop. This camera was set-up about 50 yards from were I was positioned. I was able to fire the camera to get a nice low angle and be ready to than pan the runners as they passed me.

The first images I shot with a 70/200 as the runners approached the loop.

The second image is from the remote camera mounted on my Fplate and triggered with pocket wizards. I used a 20D with a 16/35mm lens for this.

The 3rd image is my set-up.

The 4th image is the panning image. Shot between 1/30th and 1/40th with a 28/70mm

Nice work. I like your plate mount as well. Much sturdier than a low tripod.

Very cool set up. It'd be fun to try something like that at a horse XCountry course - maybe set up the remote under a jump.mwink.gif

I do set-up remotes for hprse shows but I think under the jump the camera firing that close might spook the horse.
