These photos are from an area of XinJiang located not far from the border of Afghanistan. It's a location ripe with natural and harsh beauty: many deserts, mountains, and glaciers. As a result, not many people travel to these reaches of China (also due to recent political tensions). Anyway, I hope you enjoy them! Feel free to check out more from this series at http://www.lisayangphotography.com's Elemental Purity album under Central China.

I loved the polarity of landscapes, and would love to go back if it weren't for the political tensions, which are too steep since last year's massacre of Han Chinese & Muslims. All the beautiful places seem to be wracked with some technicalities.. some day!
