Actually it wasn't as scary as the shot appears. No foul.

Now THESE girls want to stay pretty (off the field!)

Last shot is real well done! Penalty corners always provide some great shooting opportunities.

Field hockey can be dangerous, especially with high sticks. But I haven't seen a whole team wearing goggles before--usually just a girl here or there who has been injured recently. But I also remember a few years ago when girls lax didn't have them either. I was at a game at Stevenson Univ. lasta night and both of the rear-most defenders had a face guard on--kind of looked like old ice hockey goalie mask, but clear.

Goggles would make getting good shots even tougher--between the goggles and the girls looking down at their feet all the time, getting a clear shot of the eyes will be tough!
    Regards

    Will

I was fortunate for this game. It was a very overcast day, so I had nice diffuse light. Very little shadow to worry with. The Saints were ALL wearing eye protection. It's a private school, and I'm guessing their lawyer or insurance company had a hand in that.

I hate those mouthguards. Obviously they are indispensible, but dang they turn a pretty face unrecognizable. Additionally, the Virginia High School League rules require that the mouthguard be some color other than "clear" so the officials can see at a glance that they are in place. Better than blood and loose teeth though.
