I like the moment of capture with the majority of water at the hand, thus your title. I'm curious how many shots it took to capture that image? If the child and water were predictible, I might have tried to have a more clear background, ie: the woman (mother?) out of the shot if possible.
But still a pretty nice timing on the capture IMO.

I saw the kid playing and began wandering into the area trying to figure out what shot I wanted. The kid suddenly stuck his hand in the fountain behind him (in the pic) while facing away from me. Suddenly he turned and I realized he was going to do the same at this one, so I took two steps to get the angle. This was the second of three shots (not a burst, maybe a second apart). The first was when he began to raise his hand. This second one was timed for the capture as seen (sports shooting familiarized me with the shutter lag time) and the last was after when he pushed down on the water. This was shot with at 17mm from the hip.
Thanks! I liked the compositional elements in #3, but wanted to only post the first as I thought I captured "the decisive moment" that I was after.
I think the decisive moment is better captured in #3. It's the juxtaposition between the child and adult both playing in the fountain as well as the generally much better use of the setting in the composition.
