In an everlasting quest to break out of my very confined mold, I'm trying to force myself to take photos of more things that I normally wouldn't. I was on a business trip to Brussels a week or two ago, and while walking around the EU Parlament building, I found this path. It was very park-like, and seeing so many people in suits and business attire seemed interesting to me in that type of setting. So, I sat down, and started taking photos. After reviewing them later, this one spoke to me.

To me, the woman in the middle captures my attention. He gesture, the hand at her chest, makes it look like she's uncomfortable, and forcing herself through a situation. It also seems like a very claustrophobic image, with all of the other people around her, imposing, and her so small in the frame.

Anyone else's take on it?

(And if this looks familiar to anyone, I posted this as an entry to the 'Pink Floyd Song Titles' mini-challenge a couple weeks back.)

So here goes some feedback from one noob to another.

When I looked at the photo, the major lines that I first notice draw my attention to the group of people, not to the lady. The lines I noticed are the top of the guys head to the group of people, and the guys leg, the ladies feet and the group of people.

While there does look like something is going on with the lady, I do not find her prominent enough. I almost want her more up front with the first guy out of there, and the group of people and distant man still there.

I like the layers and the way the curved path goes out and back into the shot.

The group drew my eye as well. I also agree that I'd like the woman closer to the camera and the man out of the frame. I like the curve of the path leading the eye around the picture.

    ... I'm still peeling potatoes.

Noob here too. Something that I'm prone to is not wanting to cut stuff out of photos. I agree about seeing the woman closer to the camera. I think the guy in the foreground is just too big to not gather attention. I wonder what it would be like if, instead of cutting the man out entirely, you cut part of him out. If he was out entirely, she'd be too far to the left.

I asked similar questions of my own shots here. Alas, no one has commented yet.

I agree about liking the curve of the path. And also the way the branches hang down and point to the group, sort of framing her (but way up high). Nice.
