Lost a day's work

Major crap. I shot at 4 different locations yesterday - all on one CF card. Not a lot of images, but some decent ones (I think).

Anyway: went to load them this morning for editing - nada! Blank card. Nothing recorded.

Camera is a new 1DMKIV so I'm thinking I obviously have dome something wrong.

Went through the menu to see what settings I had for recording. Which card I had selected (there are 2) to record. Everything was as I expected and has been working fine up until now.

Then I thought perhaps the card was pooched. So, I re-formatted the card and put it back in the camera and grabbed a couple of shots in my kitchen. Yep - they were there.

It's not the end of the world - just a PITA - they were shots for personal use not for a client (thank god!).

But, I don't want this to happen again. Any suggestions as to what I may have done to cause this to happen?:scratch

    Found it!
Somehow the photos ended up being recorded on the second (SD) disc. Not sure how it happened, but I found them, thank goodness.ne_nau.gif

Check your card settings in the camera. It lets you set where stuff is saved.

It's not easy to find by browsing the settings on camera if you don't know what you're looking for... so I'd suggest looking in the camera manual.

I was just reading about this in another thread, someone did the exact same thing, evidently they didnt have the CF card inserted correct, so it wasnt reading the CF card, so it defaulted to the SD card

If you think the card is the issue, try a different one. Formatting and then putting new photos on it will make it nearly impossible to retrieve any deleted / corrupted images.

I had it set to record first to the CF card and then to the SD card but I think I hadn't inserted the CF card all the way or something.

I now have it set to record simultaneously to both cards - just in caseiloveyou.gif
