That is a beautiful image. I love the subtle shifts in color, the clouds, the rays of light and the comp. My only request would be to lighten the foreground a bit, probably not more than a 1/4 or 1/3 of a stop.

I don't know where I'm goin, but I'm goin anyway.

    Amazing!
What a great capture. Love the light trails. Are those some wild animals just above the dark grass?

Nice shoot :D It looks a little bit upset and isolated !
Well, I sometimes try to catch the light trails but I can not :(
    How can you do it?

Thank you. I do have to learn how to do selective adjustments.

I believe they are probably some Cape Buffalo? But don't quote me on that!

These were shot early morning, ISO 400 and wide open.

I recently learned that those are called "crepuscular rays".

..what a disgusting word for such a beautiful effect!

I agree. When we were making these photos, we were referring to them as "The fingers of God". Much more apt I think.

    Thanks for looking and commenting.

    Nice shot Stash.
I do wonder if it would be strengthened with a pano crop to remove much of the foreground grass/shrubs and focus on the mountains and amazing light.

This one was easier to do eoron. Cropped and adjusted with a preset. Any better?

    I like it Don!
Can't tell if the horizon needs just a bit of leveling - looks a tad high on the right

I'll be there next summer. So excited, already thinking about what lenses to take...

I've taken the vast majority of these shots with the 70-200 VR on a DX body.
However I have now graduated to a 200-400 F4 that I'm dieing to get out and try. Weather here is almost cool enough to be able to venture outside again.

Are you going on a photographic safari? If so, you will have plenty of room in your vehicle to get good shots. If not, you may want to reconsider what equipment you bring as the normal safari vehicles can be quite cozy.

Good luck. You can't help but enjoy Africa.

No, sadly it won't be a photography-based trip. This is great advice, knowing that I'll likely be limited in the amount of equipment I can bring on driving excursions.

    Thanks!
