Ordered CS5 today

It's about time- my version that I have now is PS6! :nah

So- I got the CS5 Extended.. printed the pdf manual- 613 pages!!!

Has a lot changed from PS6 to the current CS5?

    Yes. About 600 pages worth. :)

    Yeah, a lot has changed, but the basic structure of a Photoshop document is largely intact (though enhanced). Layers, channels, masks, blending modes, selections, filters are all still there and your knowledge of these elements will make you feel on familiar ground. Of course, there are many, many new tools available and many of the older ones have been greatly improved. Also important, raw conversion has come into its own, so (assuming you're shooting raw) most of the global adjustment are more easily done in ACR. I do hope your computer doesn't date from the PS6 days, as all these goodies put heavy demands on the hardware. I think what you'll find is that it takes you far less time to do what you are used to doing and that a bunch of new possibilities will be open to you as well. Get yourself a book and enjoy.
