Photoshop CS2 won't open on Snow Leopard

Got an imac with Snow Leopard pre-installed. Installed Photoshop CS2 and it won't open - the beach ball just keeps spinning at the start of the application.
when I was Installing - imac informed me that it had to install Rosetta and I agreed - knowing that CS2 is a PPC program and Rosetta usually helps these programs run under Snow Leopard.
I've read that some people have had some success in running CS2 to run under SL -- if you are one of them -- can you offer any advice?
