Shot my last MX race of the year a few weeks ago near San Diego, CA. Now, it's football season, so that will fill my need for sports photography till SX gets here! Enjoy

    Great shots Russ.
I especially like the shots of Shorty and Barcia. I usually go to Southwick and 'Dilla but could only make 'Dilla this year.

Thanks man. This year thanks to RacerX, I got to shoot Hangtown, Freestone, Red Bud, and Pala. It's been a pretty epic year for me to say the least!!

Next year I'm putting Millville as my next track to check off. That place looks amazing!! None of the riders seem to like Dilla, so I don't know if I want to make the journey from West Texas all the way to NY. Southwick would be cool though. Sand tracks make for great pics!!

I have been going to Dilla since the early 80's. Its a beautiful track(like so many others). It was all natural back then even down to the grass on the track for first practice. If you can go and its on Daveys dime I'd say do it. Im guessing the riders don't like it cause its tough and rocky so there are allot of shattered goggles and dented chest protectors.... I had posted some of my pics from this year on Motonews and wound up getting a ton of hits.

I'd love to chat with you sometime about the progression of your career from your wifes DSLR to RacerX! Congrats!

Yea, riders don't like rocks at all, and apparently that palce is full of them. It's been a crazy fast ride from my wife getting a little D40 almost 4 years ago to me shooting for X and being in the process of starting my own photography business!

I have a question for you. The exif shows flash was used on a number of shots. Do you use the cameras flash for a bit of fill or a hotshoe mount?

I use an SB900 hot shoe flash on all MX photography reqardless of the time of day. If you try to use the on camera flash, you are limited to a shutter speed of 1/320, on my camera's anyway. I never-ever use my on camera flash. I wish the D700 didn't even have it like the D3.

Some outstanding work. I think the first is my favorite. I don't know why. Not sure what's going on with 13. There's some halo thingy on the front wheel.

A bunch of us are thinking about heading to Vegas for SX or maybe EnduroX. Either would be fun to see.

Oops, I didn't notice that. I had used the dodge tool on the shroud and accidentally drifted off the shroud. Good eye my friend. I love #1 because it is so different from anything I've ever got to shoot with those amazing mountains in the background.

I think you're right about the mountains. It makes for an unusual shot.
