Welcome to this forum. I hope you continue to get involved as you bring a good compositional eye and tons of processing experience.

It is a very good set (though a few too many to digest in one post - and where is #9?). There is not a bad one in the bunch. But there is not a great one in the bunch either. What is missing is any tension, ambiguity, WTF, element to the shots. I actually like #12 the most because I imagine that he is looking for the train as it comes up on him from behind eek7.gif... So it gets my imagination running.

Keep shooting and keep posting here!

I always like street dogs and #4 fits that bill nicely. Of the people shots #3 is the one of the set that struck me with any attitude. I'll normally take a few of these types of shots at the beginning of a walk to assess where I am emotionally on the day. It sort of determines how far off-piste I'll try to go. But as Rainbow said, it's a lot of images to take in at once, at least without a specific storyline to draw it together. Nice conversions and looking forward to seeing more.

You're off to a good start, TT (what do we call you for short?) and welcome to the Street forum wave.gif. As mentioned above, you'll probably get better feedback if you post fewer images at once. I like the doggie shots, but I especially like #12 and #13.

Haven't been out shooting due to health - will return in a while.

    I like #'s: 1, 2, 12, 13.

IMHO you have to be more ruthless in your editing - "did you catch the moment - if not zap it."

Welcome - this is a great group - you learn a lot - watch yor progress -it is fun.

    Cuban,
    Welcome!

I like your processing on the shots and the grain.

I like #12 the best--the guy looking for the train while staring in the wrong direction rolleyes1.gif.

I also like the one in the subway station at 51st. Although it does not tell me much of a story, I personally like it because I can never get these! I don't think I have my settings right because they are always so blurry.
So I must ask you to share the EXIF on that one please. Same for #13.

And #8 :) have you been hanging out with Benjamin? It looks like such a Benjamin shot.

Great first attempt--I like the advise given by the previous posters to this thread. I have nothing else to add.

The processing is good. Keep going! I would suggest fewer behind people shots. Get in their faces. Also, I think that writing words and copyrights on photographs is ugly.

Nice set. I enjoyed them. And I really like the processing.

Welcome to the pj forum. Looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks all for your comments. Yeah... I know I get a little carried away with the number of pics I post sometimes. I started off with just thinking to post maybe four, but then I decided to add one more that I liked, and then another, and another.... HAHA.

I do appreciate the tips. Like I said, Street Photog is something I've never done nor have I ever really looked into so I really don't know what makes Street Photography more than just some random photos you took while taking a stroll. I tend not to add any titles when I post pictures because I believe the pics themselves should do that. However, maybe titles would have helped here.

Here is the EXIF data on the shots in the subway:

    #11 - 1/125 @ F/2.8 & ISO 800

    #12 - 1/60 @ F/2.8 & ISO 1600

    #13 - 1/200 @ F/2.8 & ISO 1600

Thanks again. We're going whale watching down in Newport Beach tomorrow so maybe I'll take some street shots while we strolling around. Also, taking a month long trip in December to the Philippines, Thailand and Korea so I will definitely have some to share then. I will make sure to incorporate some of the advice but I can't promise that there will be fewer pics in the thread. :)

BTW, 3, 4, 8, 12 are my favs... those are the ones I was originally going to post.

Thanks for the EXIF info--what mode do you shoot in--shutter, aperture, manual? I have not really pushed my camera past iso 1000. My Oly E620 doesn't handle anything above iso 800 well. But I will push it harder and work with the grain. Thanks again.

As for the lack of titles. I agree that they shouldn't need the titles to make them work, though they can sometimes be fun. Usually it winds up taking away from the image though--but let's not get into a whole titles/no titles debate rolleyes1.gif.

Liz, I shot the subway ones in manual. The rest in aperture priority.

    Welcome to the forum.

I like #1 - there's an ambiguity there. It looks like she pushing a baby stroller. Does she consider the dog her baby? Hmmmm

I also like the subway series, especially the tunnel shot. I want to yell to him "you're looking the wrong way!!"
