Thanks for the feedback. I am still fine tuning the settings on my new Canon 50D. I expected more sharpness with this camera and the Canon 70-200mm 2.8L lens. Any suggestions on focus settings? Any recommendations on getting rid of the sensor dust?
Flyjets...I moved your shots into a separate thread. It's not polite to hijack a thread when someone's asking for C&C unless you're providing an example and some tips to go with it.

Gee Wiz guys... there was no attempt to "Hijack" anything.
Such harsh words/accusations for such a simple oversight.
Sorry to step into such a sensitive subject.
Really nice shot!
This may be as sharp a focus you can get if the jet was approaching the sound barrier and what you are seeing is vapor from sonic shock cones forming. As the vehicle approaches mach 1, gas ad water vapor compress. The water forms the vapor clouds and compressed gases blows your focus. I've seen high speed film of this somewhere and the compressed gases form a ripple effect. See the youtube video below of an F18 knocking on the Mach1's door.
What was your shutter speed and aperture? While with propellor driven planes you want a relatively slow shutter (to show prop blur), with jet aircraft you generally have no need for slow shutters, usually.
Photodad1, I think it's a great shot. The pilot was probably near 400-500mph for this maneuver(if not close to threshold) and the sharpness seems fine to me. A slight blur while shooting Military warfare aircraft is a good thing, the non-vapor areas are plenty sharp. I have the Navy Blue Angels here on O'ahu this weekend, and am gearing up for their speeds... Again, great shot! Thank you for sharing.

Dude this rocks...
Excellent capture
Love the plane, LOVE the vapor, but it's not sharp and the composition is wrong: need to be entering the frame or centered, not exiting.
Thanks,
What focus mode do you use on aircraft? Continuous?, Single?
I was allowing for motion blur
All great shots btw

My apologies.
I'm sorry you perceive my remarks as "harsh".
