Watched this male orbweb spider for quite a while trying to get the attention of the rather large female by attching a thread to her web edge and then bouncing up and down. Eventually the female went over to near the web edge (#1) and the male then very cautiously approached her, got within foot touching (#2) but then the female lunged and the male bailed out on a safety line. Never actually seen a successfull approach by a male. I guess at least he lived for another try.

Natural selection is responsible for every living thing that exists.
D3s, D500, D5300, and way more glass than the wife knows about.
Subanu - not seen any males over the last few days at all.
