I've been away from these challenges for a while because we were busy with a move (packing, cleaning, unpacking, cleaning, etc.). Now that things have settled down, it's feels nice to be able to play with the camera again.

Went to a farm market this afternoon and found some lace linens for sale. Had my camera with me so I thought I'd try a few shots for the challenge.

C&C appreciated. Thanks!

The action I used for the conversion (Gorman B&W) uses a grey toning which gave these more of a dramatic look. When I removed that layer for the purpose of this challenge these no longer looked dramatic, so I'm open to suggestions.

Oh. These speak very well!~ It is so close and well done, that it breathes and speaks Lace to me.

I do think if it were me, I'd continue in this vein and see if I could pull something else from it. For instance, that first image does look like a elizabethan collar of sorts....it may be totally unnecessary to do so, but I think I'd at least try some more angles, light and thought to sort from mostly because this is right on-theme!

Thanks Jenn/Tom! I may need to reshoot or find a different way to add some drama to one of those. I can always head back out to that market tomorrow, too. mwink.gif

Ya know, if it's in your neck of the woods, why not?

I really like what you got to begin with, and as typical, we find more as we continue to shoot sometimes.

Thanks. It IS pretty amazing what we find when we go out to to shoot. I went to that farm market to shoot something with a harvest time. What did I find? Lace! It was the last thing I expected to find at a farm market. rolleyes1.gif

I really like all of them a great deal...but, for me, 2 really stands out. I love the fact that it is only a very small portion of the photo that is tack sharp, but I can see the pattern of the lace even in the out-of-focus portions. It highlights the delicacy of lace...

I would wish that just a little of the left side and the bottom was cropped out so that you'd lose the dark spots in the background...Keep it all light and airy.

Just my 2 cents! I'm impressed. Good job! thumb.gif

I think this is a great start. I love what you've done and would like to see you pursue it with a little more drama. Not sure what to suggest exactly, but it seems to hold so much promise.

Yeah, it's the drama part I'm having the problem with...Laughing.gif. But I have just under a week to figure something out. :photo :D

Linda, I like the third one the most, because the lighting is adding some "drama" to it. I agree with Chris that some more drama would be good. Cheers/Peter

A longshot that I'm not sure about since another photographer is already working on a Queen Anne's Lace shot but I thought I'd run it by you just for some C&C:

Nice! Of these last 2 lace, I like the B&W better than the sepia.

The Queen Anne's lace is also very nice. If you decide to enter it, I have some other ideas. So don't hold back on my account. :D

The last B&W lace detail is the shot. Really dramatic.

I really like both of your last lace images (less the flower).

Not sure which one to choose :) maybe the B&W one... headscratch.gif

Wow! Thank you for all your comments. :D I had been leaning toward the B&W lace and it's really nice to get that extea boost of confidence.

My next challenge is to figure out a title for that entry. headscratch.gif

The kind of lace pictured there is called "Chemical Lace" or "Schiffli Lace" (thank you, Mr. Google). But I'm not keen on using either of those.

Time to put my thinking cap on. rolleyes1.gif

    Hi Linda,

I saw your entry - very nice!

The name doesn't do it for me too much though... what about "Hand made" or similar?

I really like the last shot too... How about "Laced With Beauty..."? (Because it certainly is...)
