Hi

On a recent trip to Tasmania in the middle of Winter, the weather was not very kind at all. In fact it was rainy and misty most of the time so I used it to my advantage as waiting for the sun to come out wasn't going to work. I can't wait to go back here in Summer as the scenery is breathtaking.

Welcome aboard! Something eerie about this picture, perhaps the stillness and low clouds. Cool nontheless. Thanks for sharing.

    Magical
You have captured a very special moment of a very special place. I spend a week there sometime ago (12 years) and I still hold it dear. Excellent photo.

Thanks for the welcome. I have been reading these forums for a little while and joined a month back...and now I have finally posted. Guess I like to take things slow!! :)

This area is very nice but they say only gets about 30-50 sunny days a year... ours wasn't one of them. We were expecting snow but even that didn't show. Just rain, mist and gloom but we still had a fun time. Can't wait to get back there.

Thanks Burke! This rock featured in a few of my shots ..that and the very famous boat shed on the lake. Without them, the photos would have not been as nice.

Thanks David (don't I know you from somewhere...maybe a certain sony forum???) I enhanced the blues to give a bit more mood and I think it worked ok.

Thanks Ted.This was my first visit to Tasmania. It was a long weekend for us, so we headed straight to Cradle Mountain.. shocking weather for part of it,but we managed to hike round the lake and enjoy the whole atmosphere. The ballroom forest was breathtaking with the creek flowing through and I want to go back there in Autumn when the ancient beeches and myrtles leaves turn colour. I believe it is quite a show.

    Hey Tassie :)

You live in Tasmania and haven't been to Cradle Mountain yet??? Isn't that always the way though. You must get there but the weather can be quite dodgy so it's luck of the draw. I would love to go up there when there is snow laying as I have seen some magnificent sunrise/sunset photos with snow around the lake and on the mountains. Then again, I would like to be there in Autumn when the Ancient maples and beeches go deep orange.... then again, a Summer's day with blue skies and fluffy clouds would be great to see. I might have to move up there to try and capture all the moods of the park hehe.
