Jindabyne, NSW, Australia

Following pictures were taken during my recent visit to Jindabyne (a little town at the bottom of the Australian alps). Despite some presence of green the whole area is affected by a severe drought. Lake Jindabyne has dropped its level by 2m in last 12 months.

The pictures shown here were "snapped" during a very unusual evening - there was 105km/h winds, heavy clouds just meters from me and clear sky on the other side. This provided these vivid, saturated colours.

Enjoy. Ted

Thanks for taking time to comment. I really appreciate that. The colours are indeed "funky" and the warmer tint on the left is not accidental or introduced in post processing. The polarization of light (warmer colour on the left side of the shots) between clean sky and heavy cloud was that apparent to the naked eye too.

    Hey Ted,

I spent alot of time in Jindabyne when I was younger. It's a beautiful little township. I love the shot of Lake Jindabyne, but it's sad to see the lake is still so low.

In regard to your comments about the wind speed, just got back from a week at Buller. Tuesday night there was 200km/hr winds that caused lots of damage to lodges, lift hubs, etc on the mountain.

    Cheers,

    David

Jindabyne has been on my list of places to visit for a long time. I know what you mean about it being dry. It looks alot like it does up here in the northern tablelands. Hopefully we get some rain i the summer storm season. I like the Thredbo River shot it looks so cold, even though all the snow has gone.

It almost seems like this drought is never going to end doesn't it:cry
