    Hi CaptKoi!

I've seen this from time to time and am looking into the issue.

Thanks for taking the time to report this. I appreciate it.

I've been seeing these errors fairly consistently today. They started popping up occasionally a couple of days ago; the frequency has been increasing so that it is happening often enough to make participating in the forum very difficult.

I haven't seen any issues today and I've been on and off during the day. Can you be more specific about your experiences? Frequency/time of day would be helpful.

I was seeing this problem on and off for several hours before I posted. Right before I posted it was pretty consistently popping up. I didn't notice problems with any other sites, just dgrin.

I have encountered the same database error screen three times over the last two days. Each of those times Dgrin was available again within ten seconds. Whatever was up, it seemed minor.

With the frequency of errors that I was seeing, it seems like there would be some errors showing up on the server that hosts the forum.

Unlike your 10 seconds, I was seeing failures continue for longer. Sometimes refreshing the browser let me through. Sometimes the errors continued through several refreshes. I also tried different browsers, no change.

Each time that occurs, it will be logged but the database logs many items and having a rough estimate of the time frame makes it a little easier to sort out.

I saw a number of errors yesterday evening starting around 6PM local time (GMT+2). They would repeat on reload, but then clear up on their own. Probably happened half a dozen times over the course of the evening. It's Tuesday morning here now and I haven't hit an error yet.

I saw this problem pretty consistently yesterday from about 5 to 9 PM eastern time.

Just got this error today (September 28) too at 22:12 (10:12 pm) MEST after reloading the page on SmugMug support forum. After less than one minute the site was up again.

I lost a post last night due to this. Hit the submit, and got a database error. Hit the back button, and the post composition was gone. Very frustrating.

    Hi Joel.

    Sorry you lost a post.

We are looking into the problem. No estimate of when this will be fixed.

Thanks. I think we know what the problem is but are not 100% sure what causes it. Still looking.

The site was unusable due to constant DB errors at 6:00 AM this morning, then suddenly it's working again. Smugmug on the other hand still seems to be working at a crawl though.

I'm still having problems to. Know what's causing it? When it might be working good again?

actually I think SM uses "flat cats" to power these forums and SM itself. Cripes never have I enountered a multi-million dollar service with so many freaking bugs and flat out failures.

Hi Breck, I appreciate your frustration on this - please don't get the volunteer moderators and admins down though, they work extremely hard, and for no money, to try and make Dgrin great. We'll get the db stuff nailed on Dgrin, sorry for the inconvenience (imagine how hard it is for me, all day and night long!).

    Hey Andy,

Its not my intention to diminish the effort and hard work of the volunteers for DGRIN...really, that is yeoman service and deserves a pat on the back for whatever they are allowed to do. My comments are directed at my opinion of the SM service as it has been for me in the two years I have been a customer.

If these boards are fully maintained by volunteers then hey never gonna hear me complain again...that's super of them. And if these folks need more tools to keep things running better...dang it go out and buy them!! Even it it's some of those special "donut" seat cushions to ease their discomfort!

I'm not sure how to take this. On the one hand, there's a compliment but on the other? What seems more like a backhanded compliment (the doughnut seat comment).

As Andy's mentioned, most of the forums are maintained by volunteers (of which I am one). I know things can be frustrating at times and even though we'd like to snap our fingers and fix something instantly, it doesn't always work out that way and it takes time to get to the bottom of things. And while spending money would be cool, it's not what's needed in this instance.

    Thanks for your input.
