Had a chance to get fairly close at a few pro soccer games--French National Level. I was about 8 steps up behind the paid guys. Let me know what you think!

Thanks!

Kelly

All looks great, just one thing I'd say...crop tighter. Sports shooting isn't like portrait or street photog. Rule of thirds kind of goes out the window when shooting sports action shots.

Figure out what your subject is and crop in tight to show it. Look at a Sports Illustrated or any other sports publication to see what I mean.

    Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comments Rick. I knew someone would say something about getting in tighter (or several people as the case may be, lol!). I wish! I REALLY needed a 400mm for this. The paid guys are close.... but not even THAT close either. They are even a good distance from the sideline and I was a concrete tunnel + 8 steps beyond that! It was still a blast, and I could easily crop in post *but I hate to degrade them to 1/2 their size. Most of these were actually already maxed out at my full 200mm focal length, sigh. I'm thinking an extender is at least in my future. Nothing to do here. I just accedpted my distance and had fun with it. For kicks I may just crop in post, but I don't think they'd print. Anyhoo...thanks for the input!!!! :)

I forget what body you use? I'm guessing you have enough MP to crop tighter.

Don't worry about cropping in post. Kind of have to in a lot of sports shooting. Obviously, I don't like to but...

Plenty of room. I crop with my 50D all of the time. :)

This is from the other night. Cropped fairly tightly...

Really like #3, #5, and #9. I might have to borrow your lens… These are some really wonderful images.
