Sale cancelled??

On Tuesday I got an email from SmugMug telling me that one of my images had been sold, and sure enough the sale showed up in my sales history.
Now I see that the sale has been cancelled. How is this possible? Surely, once I've been notified baout the sale then that sale is binding for SmugMug, or am I wrong?

Any info very welcome!
