I'm having a problem with Smugmug watermarks not showing up in Facebook posts when someone uses the Smugug share function to share a photo.

    Any ideas?

    Exactly!

Actually, I'm really getting tired of other photographers criticizing me for having a honking big watermark in the middle of my photos; but I do it for a reason. At least if an image is swiped (and it has happened) my logo is in the middle of it!

Guess that means I should stop asking for C&C or comments here, though.

I export a MAX or 600px per side for facebook and flickr with a nice watermark in the middle. For instance: http://www.flickr.com/photos/17958808@N04/5034654899/

If it gets swiped then so be it, it'll be hell to get that watermark out and even then it'll be a great 2x2 image.

I've started doing that as well. And my photos on Smugmug are, of course, watermarked too.

I dont use a watermark on SmugMug because I have my galleries set for no copying. Is there still a need for watermarks?

If its on the web, it can be taken or copied. Even on SmugMug, so you might want to watermark them if you are at all concerned about people taking them. Right click protecting doesn't keep everyone from grabbing them.

I really like the watermark option SmugMug has, for non-Smug watermarks I love LR3.

Be aware that the right-click protection provided by Smugmug does not prevent anyone who knows what they're doing from copying your images; and if you have your galleries set to allow for viewing the original size files, you're likely just giving your work away for free.

Facebook is full of my sport's images, but at least my watermark clearly shows in the middle of each of them.

I just "upgraded" my watermark so that it covers more of the image and also is more opaque than before. I decided to do this since I've recently been shooting childrens' soccer and baseball and don't want the parents getting away too easily. :)
Canon 7D and some stuff that sticks on the end of it.
