Hadn't been to the zoo in many years and my daughter and I set out for the day to San Diego. What a great place to practice shooting. Lots of light variables. Wrong quite a few times, but sure had fun! Pandas amazing...loved watching them all...Link of EXIF's/album:

All beautiful shots. Interesting shot of the elephant though. Must be a favorite way to relax. I took this at the Philadelphia Zoo in June.

Very nice shots and a nice series. I like the Gorilla best, you've captured a nice expression on him. thumb.gif

Thanks everyone. The gorilla took a crashing dive at the glass window right after that shot, pounding on it and of course having my long lens I was too close for that shot. He had already cracked two of the windows. Amazing speed they have. Yep, he was playing with us. Put on quite a show. We walked up just at the right time. Quite scary up close! Amazing elephants do that. Looks like same photo, Bear! I thought maybe he had a headache ;~)

These are great fun and very captivating (so to speak). That elephant shot is a true winner.
    If not now, when?

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks guys and gals! I admit to taking quite a few of each, in different settings just to make sure I got a few decent ones, mwink.gif And thanks to the glorious "Clarify" effect in PSP9 I managed to get better light on the apes. In the shade, and with such dark colors it is hard to define their fur and features. That "clarify" is a big help. I use that more and more these days. Heres one I like too, cropped closer:

    Hi Linda,
I was just visiting your galleries and said the same thing about the elephant:D. That was before I came across this post so this is quite funny. Nice galleries, hadn't been there in awhile. I especially liked the IR Yosemite gallery, but I'm partial to IR anyways.

    Thanks for the share,
    Chris
