I have some Sony A-mount lenses. Is there a way to mount them on a Nikon D700? If so would it even be a good idea?

    Hve a look here.

I didn't see any, and typically folks are adapting Nikon lenses to other cameras.

It is discussed here at DPREview...................
short answer is there is no adapter to use sony or minolta lenses on Nikon as the distance from the sensor to lens is too great and extra
    optics would be needed.
