Sunday Morning Stroll

This morning we went out to enjoy the nature park "De Meinweg". This park has a diverse vegetation, exisiting of woods and open spaces, much of which is covered with the heather plants that are currently in blossom. It's too bad that we overslept, and the sun was already a bit high in the sky (you could already feel the difference in heat in the sunlit areas and the shaded woods), making the light a little harsh, but at least that enabled me to grab one of my favorite subjects: backlit trees and leaves.

The colors covered by the heather plants suffered already from the harsher light, but still we enjoyed the purple blankets a lot.

Thanks, Andy. Normally I'd go out of my way to avoid blown out highlights, but in this scene I found that the big bright spot where the sun came in through an open spot in the woods on the left worked for me.
