Hi. I've never been brave enough to enter a challenge, but it's time to take the plunge, right?

I was at a draft horse show earlier today and saw this sweet carriage parked outside. It had leather seats, a leather whip and was draped with a lace shawl (with a little help from moi, of course).

What do you think? Either suitable to enter? Neither?

1. Black and white version

2. Sepia tone version

Suggestions gratefully accepted.:help

Any chance for a reshoot? The background is distracting and counters the mood of the leather and lace. Alternately, can you get closer?

I may be able to get back there this morning and double check. I agree, the background is distracting and out of 'time' character for the carriage.

Nice scene. I like them both, but the sepia need a little more contrast I think.
I would crop the top and left side to eliminate as much of the background distraction.

I agree, eliminate as much of the background as you can....you might even be able to use some sort of "glow" or "diffuse" filter post-production on what remains of the background.

If you can blur the background but keep that whip crisp (or brake, or whatever it is on the right - sorry for the ignorance of the carriage parts), this will be a very sweet entry. I agree that the sepia needs a little more contrast if you go with that coloration - it does make the shot look more suited to the period of the carriage than the b/w version. Great idea & I love the draping.

Thanks all. I didn't have a chance for a re-shoot so I'll see what I can do with the original and get it in on time if possible.
