I find the best time to take self portrates is right after I have my hair done and get one of those make overs from the mall. These are two of my mulitple attemps using my studio equipent for the first time.
There will probably be more later, not done editing. comments always welcome.

    Heather,
as a rule of thumb, female upper body portraits rarely work if taken from the waist level. deal.gif

New hairstyles and makeovers always make one feel great.

I always wonder the techniques people use to selfies with studio lighting setups.
Do you use a stand in to help with focus?
Or perhaps a remote shutter release?
Either way, these are nice low key portraits.
I like the first one as well

Great portraits, but I think that they would be even better if you put some light on your beautiful hair. To give a shine and separation.

    Very good.

I use a relitivley small apeterue to get the greatest depth of field, then utilize my roommate to get the focus and lighting right. After that I use a remote shutter release. If the roomamte isn't around I'll used tethered shooted with my lap top so I can see what the camera is seeing when setting up the shot.

I had a light up high. But I don't think it i angled it correctly. This is was my first time using some very basic studio lighting. I see lots of areas for improvement.
